Creative Arts
The Arts Team deliver a high standard of lessons, opportunities, performances and exhibitions at Lacon Childe. We are keen to encourage a passion in the Arts amongst all of our students, and aim to provide a broad education that allows individuals to flourish and create. The standard of results is high - both in GCSE subjects and as evidenced in the varied performances we organise during the year. These traditionally include a Winter Concert, Carol Service, School Production and Summer Exhibition.

Art and Design
Art Students have enjoyed a high standard of GCSE results and the school has started to offer BTEC courses in Art to continue to build on the strengths our children have. This is a popular subject at GCSE level, and many pupils have specialised in areas such as Graphics, Applied Art, Photography and Fine Art recently. We organise a range of visits to galleries such as BMAG, Ikon, Walsall, Tate Modern and Britain, and the National Gallery. We also engage local artists, designers and photographers to come in and work with our older students in workshops and talks.
Our philosophy is to enable students to create ideas independently and with growing skill, and to allow the expression of ideas through reflective practice.

Arts Award
This National Award is available to students through Lacon Arts - a registered Arts Award Centre at Lacon Childe. All enthusiastic and interested students are invited to join the scheme, and simply have to evidence their participation and leadership in the Arts. Their approach can be varied, and include any form of the Arts from painting through to backstage support. To achieve Bronze Level, students will need to evidence the following:
- Enjoy the Arts as an audience member (watching a show or band, visiting an exhibition).
- Participate in the Arts (take a class, play in a band, paint a picture).
- Describe a hero/heroine (a singer, dancer, acton ....).
- Leads the Arts (organise some form of leadership - teach someone or organise a class, demonstrate a skill).
