Parenting Support - What we offer

At Lacon Childe we work closely with:

- Educational Welfare Service

- Youth Forum

- Barnardos

Last year we ran a "Living with Teenagers" Course. This was a four week programme exploring topics such as relationships, alcohol, drugs, etc. We are hoping to replicate this in the near future.

We are about to trial a pilot of our new ‘Lads and Dads’ initiative. This initiative aims to promote physical activity and literacy for boys in our feeder primary schools, and to encourage men to take a more active role in their children’s learning. Our pilot Lads and Dads morning, which will involve boys in school years 2 and 3 will take place on Saturday 5th July at Burford Primary School.

TRIPLE P - POSITIVE PARENTING PROGRAMME

TRIPLE P stands for Positive Parenting Programme and has been designed to prevent - as well as treat - behavioural and emotional problems in children and teenagers. While the system is almost universally successful in improving behavioural problems, more than half of its 17 strategies focus on developing positive relationships, attitudes and conduct. The programme aims to prevent problems in the family, school and community before they arise and to create family environments that encourage children to realise their potential. Founded on decades of research and clinical trials, Triple P is being increasingly used by governments and health sector professionals throughout the world.
