Lacon Childe School provides students with lessons that are exciting, relevant and appropriate to their level including extra, bespoke support for those that need it as well as stretching those that excel at a subject.
The curriculum at Key Stage 3 (Years 7 to 9) is broad; this allows students to try a range of subjects and identify which ones they would like to take further in Key Stage 4 (Years 10 to 11) and study for examinations.
In these early years, students will study the core subjects of Maths, English and Science as well as a foreign language. Students have lessons in Music, Art and Drama as well as learning skills in research, technology and computing to support their work across all subjects. Students also learn key life skills such as cooking nutritional meals and sewing.
At the end of Year 9 students elect which subjects they would like to study to exam level in addition to core subjects. As well as classroom-based subjects and sports, students are able to undertake practical courses such as hair-dressing, engineering and agriculture-based studies.
